I also wish they tapered a little bit from the knee down but for the price I got them and even for full price, they’re pretty great. I got Nudie Thin Finn & Uniqlo Slim Fit Selvedge last year. What I can say is Uniqlo is a bit better.It's up to you. Raws/unsanforized will shrink after washing and choosing the right size may be tricky; prewashed/sanforized will stretch after a while, depending on fabric. Basically if you are into high contrast fades then soaking and washing make a huge differences. Washing stresses the fabric more due to agitation. Higher water temperature and the use of washing machine will increase stress to the fabric as well.All denim will fade. Looks like you have just a rinse on that dark wash, so probably the only chemistry the manufacturer applied is a rinse wash, desize and maybe some softener. My waist measures a little over 32”, so I went with the size 32 one-wash version, which had a waist measurement of about 32.25” when I got them, but it’s stretched to 32.5”.
